Welcome to Leadership Tangles

Change and Organizational ManagementWelcome! I have been meaning to write a blog for a long time. As I have watched the financial markets spin out of control, and my leadership clients express true concern about their futures, I could hold off no longer. I have been in the field of leadership and organizational development for a number of years. I am in this field because I am passionately committed to igniting leadership potential and organizational transformation. Six years ago, I decided to up my game by entering a doctoral program. I graduated with my Ph.D. in March, 2007. Through that intense process, combined with more than twenty-five years working with leaders in a multitude of corporations, small, medium, and large, I feel uniquely equipped to lend my voice to these troubled times.

I have always taken a holistic, systemic approach to my work. Therefore, when I stumbled upon the term VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity), I was intrigued. In fact, I did an intense study of how leaders can make sense of, and thrive, in the midst of VUCA.

And if there is a word to describe our current situation, it is VUCA. I will use this blog space to help make sense of the current situation, tying in current events, my research, past and current consulting and coaching experiences, as well as tips from books, articles, and movies. I am a lifelong learner. In addition to formal academic training, I have taken a wide variety of courses over the years. I will include wisdom from any source that I think will help you achieve leadership mastery.

By way of further introduction, I spent many years moving up the ladder in corporate America. I have held management, sales, and sales management positions. I worked at a prestigious global training and development firm, before moving to leadership positions in specialized boutique consulting firms. Ten years ago, I ventured out on my own. I work at the individual, team, and organizational levels. I have been doing executive coaching for the past ten years, working with leaders from director level to CEO's. I have facilitated scores of processes with leadership teams that result in more productive and stronger teams. And I have led change management teams for large-scale organizational changes, ranging from merger integration, technology implementation, quality initiatives, reengineering, and cultural transformation.

We are truly living in unprecedented times. I believe that there are frameworks, ideas, metaphors, tools, and models that can help you make sense of current conditions. My plan is to share what I know and invite dialogue so that you can achieve leadership mastery, and understand how to address leadership tanggles.  And by anticipating and addressing leadership tangles, you and your business will thrive.
